CrabCraft Season 3 marked a fresh start for the server, launching with a massive influx of new and returning players. The season was characterised by rapid progression, ambitious community projects, a dynamic player-driven economy, and memorable events that defined the serverâs unique history.
The Beginning
The season began with a flurry of activity as dozens of players logged on for the first time. The initial hours were a race for resources, with advancements for Stone Age and Getting an Upgrade filling the chat. The community spirit was evident from the start, even in moments of peril. Player WaterTie famously achieved the serverâs first death at the hands of a Zombie, an event he celebrated in chat, setting a lighthearted tone for the challenges to come.
Diamonds were discovered remarkably quickly, with WaterTie once again claiming a server first, finding a single diamond shortly after the launch. This kicked off a diamond rush, with players like AquaRose77, mandrew34 and mmorbid soon following suit, gearing up for the dangers ahead.
The early days were not without conflict. Player VegasDuo established a reputation for PvP, claiming a few of the serverâs first player-versus-player takedowns. This early chaos eventually settled as players began to establish their own bases and form alliances.
Progression and Milestones
The serverâs progression was swift, with several key milestones being reached in the first few days of the season.
The Nether Rush
Dooberdwarf was the first player to brave the Nether, constructing a portal and earning the We Need to Go Deeper advancement. Many others quickly followed, seeking the valuable resources and inherent dangers of the dimension. This led to numerous encounters with Ghasts, Piglins and the treacherous terrain of the Nether, with players like Dooberdwarf and mandrew34 making significant progress by exploring Bastions and Fortresses.
The Wither Fights
The server saw several Wither fights, a testament to the playersâ determination. The first Wither was summoned by mandrew34, with other players like WaterTie, SirIncognito and MaxUK also taking on the challenge. The battle led by Max and Dex was particularly chaotic, resulting in numerous deaths but ultimately ending in victory and a much-needed beacon for the community at spawn.
The Ender Dragon
The battle against the Ender Dragon was a massive community event, with a large portion of the serverâs active players gathering to face the boss. After a coordinated and intense battle, the dragon was defeated, with player SuperStormer123 landing the final blow and earning the Free the End advancement.
The victory immediately sparked the âGreat Elytra Hunt,â as players poured through the newly opened End Gateways in a mad dash to find End Cities and claim the coveted wings. This led to a new era of exploration and travel on the server.
Notable Players and Projects
Season V was defined by the creativity and dedication of its players, who undertook massive projects and established unique roles within the community.
- Jazzyshakes (jazzy): An incredibly ambitious builder, Jazzy undertook the monumental task of recreating the world of the video game Undertale deep beneath the spawn town. They also established several shops, including a mud shop and a froglight farm, and served as the communityâs resident DJ during a particularly memorable music session at the casino.
- Yeetis_boi: Known for his massive Colosseum build near spawn, Yeetis_boi spent countless hours gathering resources and terraforming the landscape. He also established a firework shop to supply the server with rockets for their new elytra.
- The Merchants: A thriving economy quickly developed at the spawn shopping district. Key merchants included Dune, who was a primary source for Mending books; SuperStormer123, who sold a variety of enchanted books and other goods; and Dex, who opened the âCat Cafe.â
- The Unfortunate: Some players became legendary for their frequent and often humorous deaths. Raven5765 and thegamerdan09 had a particularly difficult time with Skeletons and gravity. LordFire__ also racked up an impressive death count in his early days on the server, providing much entertainment for the community.
- Notbaked2 (shadow): A chaotic but memorable figure, shadow established the serverâs first âBlack Marketâ and was responsible for the great gunpowder heist, where he stole a double chest of gunpowder from Yeetis_boiâs farm. His actions led to a server-wide investigation and a demand for compensation.
Community, Lore, and Events
Beyond individual projects, the community came together for events and created a rich server lore.
The Hide and Seek Event
An official Hide and Seek event was hosted in the spawn town, bringing together a large number of players for a fun, non-combat activity. The event featured multiple rounds with different seekers, challenging players to find the most creative hiding spots in the intricately built town.
The Casino
A casino was built by mmorbid and WaterTie, becoming a popular hub for players to test their luck, featuring a slot machine and other games of chance. It also became the location for an impromptu DJ session hosted by Jazzy, which was a highlight for many players online at the time.
