Season 4 of CrabCraft was the server’s largest and most active season to date. Launching on 29 November 2024, the season immediately saw a massive influx of players, leading to a period of intense activity. The world was defined by its early chaos, ambitious building projects, and a vibrant player-driven economy and social structure.

The First Day

The season kicked off with unprecedented energy. Within minutes of the server going live, dozens of players had connected, all eager to stake their claims. This initial rush was characterised by rapid resource gathering and a significant amount of player-versus-player conflict. Early deaths were a common occurrence, with the first kill of the season being jazzyshakes slain by bartuctheshadow. This set a precedent for a high-stakes, competitive early game where players like Yeetis_boi and ChewedApples also fell in PvP encounters.

The sheer number of players caused a minor technical hiccup when the server hit a temporary player cap, but a quick restart by MaxUK__ allowed the population to swell further. Despite the conflict, progression was swift. Players like ItsMatty404 and bartuctheshadow quickly earned the Stone Age and Getting an Upgrade advancements, paving the way for the server’s rapid technological advancement.

The Rise of Communities and Projects

As the initial chaos subsided, players began collaborating on ambitious projects that would define the landscape and social fabric of Season 4.

Hardshell Developments & Crabitat Towers

One of the most ambitious urban projects was undertaken by SirIncognito (also known as Dex), the founder of Hardshell Developments. He began construction on a massive apartment and office building near spawn, which came to be known as Crabitat Towers. Intended to be a central hub for player housing and commerce, the tower was a symbol of the season’s forward-thinking community. SirIncognito planned to sell or lease floors to other players, establishing a formal in-game economy around prime real estate.

Grillby’s Bar

Constructed by jazzyshakes, this faithful re-creation of the bar from the game Undertale became a beloved landmark and social hub. Located near spawn, Grillby’s was not just a build but a planned business, with jazzyshakes intending to sell custom-named potions and other goods, adding a unique role-playing element to the server’s economy.

The Colosseum

Early in the season, Yeetis_boi and LuminousBones began the monumental task of building a Colosseum. This structure was designed to host server-wide events, PvP tournaments, and other community games. Its construction was a significant undertaking, and it stood as a testament to the players’ ambition to create lasting entertainment for the entire server.

The Spawn Christmas Tree

As a server-wide festive project, a giant Christmas tree was erected at spawn. This build became a unique and humorous part of the server’s culture, as players began a tradition of placing the heads of other players on the tree as “ornaments.” This “murder tree,” as it was affectionately called, was a living monument to the season’s friendships and rivalries, with jazzyshakes being a primary collector of these unique decorations.

Key Events of the Season

The Ender Dragon Conquest

One of the season’s most anticipated events was the community fight against the Ender Dragon. After the End was opened, a large group of players banded together to enter the End dimension. The battle was swift and decisive, with Reexmas landing the final blow and earning the Free the End advancement for the server.

This victory triggered a frantic and exciting rush to the outer End islands. Players raced to find End Cities and claim the server’s first Elytras. Sugakoi was the first to achieve this, forever changing the way players could travel and explore the vast world.

The Court of CrabCraft

Season 4 saw the emergence of a player-run justice system, with WaterTie often acting as judge. The most famous case was the trial of jazzyshakes for the murder of shadows_eminence. The proceedings were a source of great entertainment, with other players taking on the roles of lawyers and witnesses. The trial concluded with a guilty verdict and a fine, showcasing the server’s ability to create its own engaging lore and social structures.

Wither Fights and Beacons

As players progressed into the late game, the focus shifted to acquiring beacons. Several groups successfully fought the Wither, with LuminousBones being the first to craft and place a beacon. This marked a new era of efficiency for the server, as players used the beacon’s powerful effects to aid in their massive building and mining projects.

Notable Players and Lore

  • jazzyshakes: A key community figure, responsible for major builds like Grillby’s and the event centre. Their “murder tree” and their trial were defining moments of the season’s lore.
  • shadows_eminence, Raferpro, and bartuctheshadow: This trio became legendary for their frequent and often spectacular deaths. Their constant presence in the death feed was a source of endless amusement for the server.
  • SirIncognito: The visionary behind Hardshell Developments and the ambitious Crabitat Towers, aiming to create a centralised economy and housing solution for the server.
  • The Netherrack Prank: A server-wide inside joke where players would prank each other by encasing their builds or doorways in Netherrack, a simple yet effective way to show camaraderie.
  • The Three Annas: For a time, the server was home to three players known as “Ana” (Anathandent, beloveddd as anna#2, and another player), leading to some humorous confusion in chat.

The End of the Season

After weeks of intense activity, epic builds, and memorable events, Season 4 reached its natural conclusion. Players had conquered the End, established thriving bases and shops, and built a rich history together. As the season wound down, the world stood as a testament to the largest and most dynamic chapter in CrabCraft’s history, filled with the stories and creations of its dedicated community.
