Revision as of 04:53, 24 November 2025
On the 23rd of November 2025, we held the official CrabCraft Season 6 Community Discussion event. Allowing members to give feedback on the previous season (Season V), ahead of the launch of the next. Around 30 players attended, providing insight into possible changes.
Summary of Event
Gameplay and Server Mechanics
Minecart Experiment. This is a Minecraft experiment that will be enabled for the launch of Season 6. It allows for the adjustment of minecart physics and speed.
- In the Nether, minecarts will be increases slightly to discourage the use of other transportation methods like Elytra, and make the Nether a viable high speed travel network.
- In the Overworld, Minecart speeds will remain at their default setting to prevent breaking precisely timed minecart systems, farms and builds.
Villager Trade Rebalance. This refers to the Minecraft experiment which changes some mechanics related to the villager trading system. This has been enabled on all past SMPs, however we confirmed this will not be enabled for Season 6.
Locator Bar

This is a UI feature recently added by Mojang that displays all players locations as waypoints, replacing the XP progress. After a poll held, the majority of players voted to disable this feature. Therefore it will not be enabled for Season 6.
End Fight Date
We discussed the optimal time to hold the server-wide fight against the Ender Dragon. In Season 5 it was held approximately 4 weeks after the launch of the Season. Following feedback from the community via a Discord poll, and the success of Season 5 we have decided to stick with a 4 week period.
Cabinet / Mayor / Judge
Pro Cabinet. Some players feel a cabinet of elected officials is a good idea for community engagement, but would require moderation to remove inactive members
Anti Cabinet. Other players argued that elected members often become inactive and accomplish nothing. making the system "pointless".
Single Mayor System. KingChuck proposed having a single mayor with an inactivity clause; if the mayor is offline for a week, they forfeit the position to the next candidate.
Mayor's Authority. The powers and responsibilities of the mayor need to be clearly defined so the role has a clear purpose beyond just a title.
Season Length
The goal for Season 6 is to last longer than previous seasons, aiming for approximately six months. This would allow for the completion of larger, more ambitious community builds and projects.
Town / Shopping District & Shop Plots vs Free Build
Shop Plots. The system from last season where players had to purchase plots to build in the shopping district was criticized for being too expensive for new players and somewhat restrictive.
Free Build. The consensus is leaning towards a free-build shopping district for more creativity.
Organization. However, some players argued for some form of organization (like defined roads or zones) to prevent the area from becoming a chaotic "mess."
Demolition Rule. A proposal was made for a two-week demolition rule for builds within the main town. If a structure is clearly unfinished and the owner has been inactive, other players could be given permission to remove it to keep the town looking clean.
Season Events & Secret Santa
There is a strong desire for more regular, community-driven events.
Secret Santa. A server-wide Secret Santa event was proposed for the Christmas period, where players would be randomly assigned another player to give a gift to.
Other Events. Players also suggested hosting in-game events for players' birthdays. The idea of having a dedicated "events person" or committee (Pip offered) was well-received.
Mounts of Mayhem & Spawn Lag
Server Version. Season 6 will launch on Minecraft version 1.21.10
Mounts of Mayhem Update. The server will be updated to the new major version as soon as the necessary server software and plugins are updated, which is expected in mid-to-late December.
Spawn Lag: To reduce lag at spawn, the following is requested from players:
- Use barrels instead of chests where possible
- Avoid using large numbers of item frames.
- No farms of any kind are to be built near the central spawn/shopping area.
The Nether Hub
There is strong community interest in building a large, organized, and aesthetically pleasing Nether Hub.
This is being positioned as a major community project.
The plan is to have clearly marked portals, safe pathways, and potentially high-speed ice boat highways leading in the cardinal and diagonal directions to make travel across the server fast and easy.
World Border
A temporary world border will be implemented for the first 24 hours of the season.
The size will be somewhere around 5,000-5,000 to 10,000-10,000.
The purpose is not to limit exploration permanently, but to allow the server to pre-render the most commonly travelled chunks during the high-traffic launch period, which will significantly reduce server lag for everyone.
Streaming / Recording
The system of having a "Live" tag in-game for players who are streaming or recording will be continued.
This system was met with unanimous approval from the community as a good way to inform players when their voice and actions might be broadcast.
