Setup Guide

Welcome to the CrabCraft setup guide! Here you will find step-by-step instructions on installing and configuring recommended mods when playing on the server.

Use the table of contents on the left side of the screen to quickly jump to a specific section of this guide.

Simple Voice Chat

We use Simple Voice Chat to allow players to communicate via voice, over proximity or global groups. This mod is recommended and encouraged for all players. While we understand not all players are able to talk in voice chat every session, we ask that all players install the mod regardless, as it allows you to hear others.

Moreover, installing Simple Voice Chat allows you to hear custom music discs created by players in-game!

Installation Guide (Fabric)

1. Download the Fabric Loader
   1. Open the downloaded executable file
   2. Ensure Minecraft Version is set to the latest version supported on CrabCraft, as of writing this guide it is 1.21.10
   3. Click Install
2. Open the mods folder
   1. This can be done on Windows by pressing WIN + R
   2. Enter %appdata% in the opened window
   3. Enter the .minecraft folder, then open mods
3. Download the most recent version of Fabric API
   1. Copy the downloaded file into the mods folder you opened in step 2
4. Download Simple Voice Chat (You MUST be using version 1.21.10-2.6.6)
   1. Copy the downloaded file into the mods folder you opened in step 2
5. Open the Minecraft Launcher
   1. Select fabric-loader-1.21.10 from the installations list
   2. Click play

Setting up Simple Voice Chat

After starting Minecraft and joining CrabCraft, you will need to set up voice chat. Don’t worry, this process is easy and fast.

1. Press V on your keyboard
   1. Click Next and select your Microphone
   2. Click Next and choose your Speakers / Headphones
   3. Choose an activation method, we recommend Voice Activation as it requires no buttons to speak. (You can mute yourself at any time with the M key)
   4. We also recommend enabling Noise Suppression

Recommended Settings

Access the settings page with V, then Settings

CrabCraft allows users to upload custom music discs in-game, this works using our voice chat system. Due to this, we recommend setting 3D Audio as Reduced.
